Looking to build practical skills while supporting essential services in a hands-on role? 

Norfolk Island Regional Council is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Trades Assistant Electrical / Reticulation Labourer to support the delivery of Council’s Electricity service. The position will assist qualified tradespersons with the construction and maintenance of electrical infrastructure and undertake general labouring duties that support the safe and reliable operation of essential community assets. 

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake general labouring duties, including trenching, backfilling, site preparation and clean-up.
• Assist with minor civil works.
• Safely operate and maintain tools, plant and equipment.
• Support preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
• Follow Safe Work Method Statements, procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Identify hazards, report incidents and contribute to a safe workplace.
• Maintain required work records.
• Work collaboratively with team members and interact courteously with the public. 

• Participate in after-hours or on-call rosters where required. 

About You

• Ability to safely use hand tools and basic plant and equipment
• Understanding of workplace health and safety practices
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliability and punctuality
• Physical capacity to undertake manual labour outdoors
• Current C class driver licence
• Current HR driver licence, or willingness to obtain 

• White Card, Excavator ticket, Bobcat ticket (essential)
