Emergency Management

Emergency Management Norfolk Island (EMNI) oversees emergency prevention, preparedness, response and recovery arrangements to ensure the community on Norfolk Island is supported during any emergency or disaster event.

The EMNI Committee is established under the Disaster and Emergency Management Act 2001 (NI) and operates under that legislation, as well as the Norfolk Island Disaster and Emergency Management Plan (NORDISPLAN).

EMNI also has subcommittees and supporting sub-plans that support the control and coordination of Norfolk Island's response efforts and resources.

The Committee is supported by National Emergency Management Australia, the Australian Federal Police, the Bureau of Meteorology and numerous other Australian Government agencies.
