Location: Flexible (subject to operational requirements)
Salary: $120,000 per annum + 12% Superannuation
Contract Term: Full-time, 3 years (with potential extension)

Are you an experienced local government senior accountant looking to make a meaningful impact?
Council is seeking a capable and motivated Senior Accountant to lead key financial functions, support compliance obligations, and contribute to strategic financial management across the organisation.
For the right candidate with significant experience, including prior local government exposure, flexible working arrangements may be considered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and long-term financial planning
  • Coordinate annual financial statements and external audit processes
  • Provide financial analysis and strategic advice to senior management
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, audit and reporting requirements
  • Support continuous improvement of financial systems (including Civica)
  • Assist in developing financial policies, procedures and controls

About You:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in local government or public sector finance
  • Strong knowledge of financial and management accounting principles
  • Experience managing audits and complex reporting requirements
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical capability
