Quarterly and monthly energy bills were issued to Norfolk Island residents in April.

While the majority of electricity users pay their bills on time, we understand that there are instances where residents encounter hardship, and we strongly encourage electricity account holders who are experiencing difficulties in paying bills to contact us to discuss their options.

Outstanding accounts can be stressful for the individual and can impact on your credit rating. In the long term, unpaid bills can have a negative impact on the level of community services NIRC offers, a situation we are keen to avoid.

Account holders are reminded that, where an account is outstanding, it is essential that payment plans are established. Where these are not agreed, this will eventually result in disconnection of power. Establishing workable payment terms is a condition of electricity supply.

Electricity users also have the ability to monitor their usage online and to access dynamic tariffs, which unlock cheaper electricity during the day. By changing the way you consume energy, you can reduce the amount of your next bill.

Council can assist in establishing payment plans where necessary. Call 0100 (local freecall) or email customercare@nirc.gov.au to speak with our Customer Care team.
