Norfolk Island Regional Council Animal Import Permit

In order to import an animal into Norfolk Island, you will need to comply with the following conditions:

  • conditions set by Animals (Importation) Act 1983 (NI). Council’s role is to assess the appropriateness of certain dog breeds and animal species that are imported to the island. If you are importing a dog, please refer to the list of restricted and prohibited breeds found on the third page of the application form.

To obtain a Norfolk Island Regional Council Animal Import Permit please complete the Animal Import Application Form (LINK to application form Animal Importation | Norfolk Island Regional Council (gov.nf)) and lodge your application to customer care. Alternatively, contact Customer Care by phone +6723 22244 or local free call 0100 or email customercare@nirc.gov.nf.

Fees

  • An application fee of $95 for the importation of a dog, cat, or bird; $155 for the importation of a fish and $95 for all other animals.
  • A yearly registration fee applies to all dogs in Norfolk Island. The fee is $95 for an entire dog and $39 for a neutered dog.
